Inevitable but still very sad.

Love that people will argue about absolutely anything on here.

I used to drink in the Central and the Denmark on non-match days a fair bit, as at the time the pubs in Hornchurch weren't great and then it was on to the Ruskin's for some heavy metal.

Used to be my old local along with the Village. Had some good laughs in there.

They got one of my mates to do the DJ 'ing on a Friday night, for a while it would be absolutely mobbed. They ended up removing the doors on the cubicles the substance abuse got that bad.

They tried everything to get rid of the clientele they weren't keen on, then brought in a gay landlord which soon cleared everyone off.

Stoat - I used to pop into the Valentine back in the early 70's. Bit of a boring pub, but I'm pretty sure that this was filmed there

Why the fuck would you travel for 3 hours from the seaside just to go to a boozer?

I mean, I know it's proper boring where you're from, but fucking hell.

More gentrification. Loads of pubs in more salubrious areas of London have been converted to flats so I expect them all to go the same way, albeit for more locals. I would think it difficult to break even without the crowds and the local non drinking population, especially with the new non domestic rates kicking in next month or so, sadly many small businesses will throw in the towel.
